Township And Police Address False Rumor
|
|
|
|
It
has come to the attention of the Plumsted Township Committee and the Plumsted
Township PBA Local 390, that a totally baseless and fallacious rumor is
circulating that Officer(s) have been arrested / charged with drug offenses.
The public can be assured the rumor is totally false. No Plumsted Township
police officer has been charged and / or arrested for any criminal offense. If
the source of such a rumor is determined, the Township of Plumsted
and / or the Plumsted Township PBA Local 390 will exercise all appropriate
legal measures against such individual in this matter.
In other news, the Ocean
County Cultural and Heritage Commission has awarded two grants to Plumsted Township organizations. The Plumsted
Township Council of the Arts will receive $1,000 and the Main Street New Egypt
organization has also been awarded $1,000 for the arts programming portion of
“Summer Splash’, a program aimed at enhancing the economic revitalization of
downtown New Egypt. The funding will assist in offsetting expenses of the
outdoor summer concerts from late May through mid-September at Oakford Lake Park.
The 4th Annual
Family Fun Day will be held on January 10th form 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
at the New Egypt Elks Lodge, 111
Lakewood Road (Rt. 528), New Egypt. The Plumsted
Alcohol and Drug Alliance, the New Egypt Elks and ADACO (Alcohol and Drug
Abuse Council of Ocean) are once again sponsoring a day that features
activities designed for families. Parents, grandparents and children in grades
2-5 can have fun while reinforcing family values.
The event and food are FREE.
Prizes will be awarded as children and families work together to create a
family shield, design a treasure map and make your own family tree. There will
be Free IDs for children, door prizes and the opportunity to experience the
fatal vision goggles. Babysitting will be available for younger children.
In preparation for the
upcoming National Census, the Census Bureau will be hiring individuals within
the next 60 days to assist with Address Canvassing the Spring of 2009. Anyone
interested in employment opportunities with the Census Bureau are encouraged to
call their toll free number: 1-866-861-2010.
The Township’s Leaf and
Branch recycling site on Magnolia
Ave. is open on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to
12 noon and does accept Christmas Trees that will be recycled into wood chips.
Residents are being informed that, in the near future, the Saturday morning
bulk waste container service site will change from a “first come – first
served” to a call-in appointment schedule to eliminate the inconvenience of
residents being shut out and turned away when containers are full. The
Wednesday call-in appointment schedule (609-758-2241 x 199) has proven very
successful and will be implemented in the near future for Saturdays as well.
The
next regularly scheduled public meeting with Township Committee members
Dave
Leutwyler, Steve Reed, Eric Sorchik and Deputy Mayor Mike McCue is February 4th
at 6:30 P.M.
Public comments and participation are encouraged at all Township
Committee meetings. Browse the Township website: www.plumsted.org
